What a night!!! The Little Orange Fish annual fundraising and community health awareness event  was a great success by every measure.

The event took place on Thursday, October 17, 2019. The setting at Burritt on the Mountain was stunning, the food provided by Taziki’s was fantastic, and the musical performances of  Victoria Jones, Alan Little and The Lamont Landers Band were exemplary of everything the Feelings are Real – Expressions event was meant to be. With their songs they took the audience through the full range of emotions that define the human experience and connect us all,  and they did so with flawless musicality.

The evening also marked the offical launch of the Inner Defense Initiative.  Inner Defense is a collaborative effort between Little Orange Fish,  iXpressGenes Inc.Paragon Research Corporation and University of Alabama Huntsville to better understand the relationship between the immune system and the mind toward the prevention and treament of PTSD through biopsychology.

This event was possible only for the efforts of the many people and organizations who provided their time, money and enormous moral support.  Special thanks to: The Barron Family, Yorktown Systems Group,  Listen Local, Cintel, Inc,  Phil and Lisa Williams, LED-Orange, Quadrus Corporation, Venturi, CohesionForce, Revel Events Agency, The Fret Shop, and Kognito

Proceeds from the event will go to provide training programs for K-12 teachers on mental health identification and understanding, and for education and awareness programs that connect all the people that make this community strong to the critical resources that support our health and wellbeing.

Little Orange Fish was founded to support the premise that every individual can benefit from and deserves access to quality mental health care.

The vision is that through research and education, better quality mental health care with a greater continuity of care can be made accessible to all. Realizing this vision will do much more than save lives by reducing acts of violence and self-harm. It will also greatly enhance the quality of life for the tens of millions in the US, and the hundreds of millions worldwide, who suffer in silence from a variety of emotional and mental health issues.

“A strong community starts with healthy individuals and good health starts with a healthy mind.”
